      Derham (USA) Custom town car landaulet, McC, p.80

      Smith (U.S.) coachbuilding company of Springfield,
      Mass., built at least one body on the Cadillac chassis in the late teens or early
      twenties; the accessories, upholstery cloth and trimmings were supplied by the Boyriven
      company of Paris and New York.  A poor
      photocopy of the interior of this car (a 3-pass. coupe) was obtained from the Detroit
      Public Library in Sept. 1994).  Any other
      information would be appreciated.
      [Unknown, Europe] (possibly NL) - circa 1920-21 - three position
      convertible sedan

      1920-21
      Lee, Don (USA) as above, custom touring sedan, built on type 61
      chassis, McC, p.92, lower LH.  This car is similar to one built on the Type 59
      chassis, above; with its ornate landau bars and stylish wire wheels, it appears shorter
      than the previous car.
      The Town Coupe

      This town car (left) was built for stage actress,
      Pauline Frederick, a friend of Harley Earl's;
      she also owned a large Don Lee touring car on Locomobile chassis

      The Mahogany sedan

      This 2-door Sedan with mahogany interior was built
      for Sussman Mitchell; McC, p.84, lower, LH

      This one was built for Mr. Jack Pickford, a Hollywood
      film director;
      he was the older brother of Gladys Smith (aka Mary Pickford - a star of the silent screen)

      I believe this is the same car, although it seems to
      have acquired
      some kind of hydraulic jacks, front and rear (to aid in tire changing?)

      The Touring Sedan

      The car at right was built for Norman de Vaux, CEO of
      Durant Automobiles, Oakland, CA;
      note the choice of wheels: disc covers at left, wire spokes at right

      This beautiful survivor, and the
		excellent photo by Michel Furman, appears to be THE car (or an almost
		identical one);
		missing are the  side-mounted spare wheels seen on the (origonal)
		old photos; not also the wood artillery-type wheels

      Here's another custom touring sedan, built on type
      59 chassis
      (McC, p.85, center, RH)

      The Club Coupe

      The Four Passenger

      The Sport Model

      One of these was built on a Rolls Royce chassis for a
      Mr. S. M. Spalding
      who became the mayor  of Beverly Hills, CA, in 1928

      This sporty touring "sedan" (?)
        with side mounted coach lamps is said to have been Don Lee's personal car;
      the color rendering from 1964 is by artist John M. Peckham [I found it and photographed it
      in GM's styling archives, in 1994]
      Left:  Artist's view of the Lee car.   Right: B&W  photo of the time

      Here's a similar Don Lee job with large, knock-off
      hubs on the sidemounted spares

      This 6-fender touring car was built for Ann
      May (McC, p.92, center)
      it is described also as a sport formal touring sedan with "California" top.

      Custom town car for comedian Roscoe,
      "Fatty" Arbuckle
      (McC, p.85, lower LH)

      Unknown  (Sweden) Open touring car
		with a definite Mercedes Benz wind-split look about the front grille.
		One assumes that the name "Cadillac" appears on both sides of the split
		windshield. Photo looks as though it had been taken during a dress-up
		parade or celebration of some kind.  Perhaps our Swedish friends
		could pinpoint the date and the evenr in question.

      Brunn (USA) Straight-line body [photo copied in ZTV
      collection, May 1994] "...makes this a very graceful Cadillac town car";
      Derham (USA) Described as a New Cadillac Cabriolet by Derham,
      this lovely custom town landaulet (in collapsible town car configuration) was reportedly
      built for service in South America to meet the demands of urban and social usage. The
      color scheme was black and cream. The interior was replete with luxurious appointments.
      This special body was constructed for the Export Department of General Motors Corporation.

      The rear doors are hinged at the center post, which
      is unusual for a 1922 model;

      Brunn (USA) Proposed "Sporting Sedan
      Landaulet". Was it ever built? (McC, p.96).  A similar Brunn

      Swope, Editor-in-Chief, New York World; McC, p.96.  The designer is  J.R.
      McLauchlen, custom body engineer with the NY Cadillac dealer, Inglis Uppercu. The small
      triangular window just ahead of the "A" pillar became a standard feature of the
      "Custom" Cadillac Series 314, introduced in January 1926.  Were the people
      at Cadillac inspired by this McLauchlen design?
