As of May 10, 2025, this is the information we have about this car:
[Jan.01.2015] The car reappeared for sale this time at petesclassiccar.com in a partially restored condition. The seller also listed the car on eBay and the car did sell off-eBay shortly after for around $30K. The seller stated the following: 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham #67 of 99 built. 63,447 original miles, original paint and interior. All numbers matching. Rust free, runs and drives. This car was a very nice original show car that got loose on the owner’s trailer in the late 90s in Arizona and got damage to the lower body in the door area. It was sold and went to a well-known Cadillac restorer who fixed the car, but did not do the final paint and assembly work. The car then came to Texas and was in storage. I bought it. It will need paint and assembly. It looks complete. All the mouldings are there. Good windshield. Nice dash pad. Interior needs carpet. The car is on springs, not air ride. I found out it is the only car with a vinyl roof. I have the vehicle history from GM. This car was sold in California, then went to a collector in Iowa, then Arizona where it was damaged. There is a listing of this car on The Cadillac Database, but some of it is wrong. The car was not destroyed, just the lower body was damaged, then repaired. Also this car has black interior and always had it. I looked at the back of the door panels and they still have the body number on them. The car also has an original black headliner and black vinyl top. I had a 58 Brougham recently that had a different interior color than the data tag and it was all original. It seems that a change was made on the production line in Italy due to a customer request and the interior code was not changed. Back then it was not a big deal about the codes. All the air suspension was taken off during a factory recall. No items remain on the car. This car needs a complete paint job, carpet, and assembly. Probably some minor mechanical/electrical work, tires. I would redo the brakes since the car has been in storage. The chrome is nice. Clear clean Texas title. As a point of clarification regarding the information that is posted on The Cadillac Database, the information is actually based on details provided by the previous owner and subsequent conversations with Frank Nicodemus from FEN. Per the previous owner, Dave Dubie, the car was sold at a salvage auction by his insurance company after being declared unrepairable. The car was then purchased from the insurance company by FEN in Wappinger Falls. The car was pieced back together by FEN using doors from parts car 1959 Eldorado Brougham #13 and underwent significant body work. The fact that the body number is shown on the back of the door panels does not prove that the interior was not changed over. I assume that the seller was able to obtain a clean non-salvage title given the fact that the car was sitting in storage at FEN and then in Texas for over sixteen years. Also, there is at least one other 1959 Brougham listed in the database (#45), which has a vicodec-like top. So car #67 car is not the only one that is so equipped and it was probably dealer rather than factory installed.
[Apr.01.2007] Dave mentioned in April, 2007, that the wreck was located in New York. It was not known at the time if its current owner would attempt a restoration or just keep the car for parts. The car was actually purchased from the insurance company by FEN in Wappinger Falls and partially restored using body parts from 1959 Eldorado Brougham #13. It remained in possession of FEN for the next ten years until it was offered for sale to select members of the Cadillac La Salle club.
[Mar 2000] Dave Dubie, Director Emeritus of the Cadillac-LaSalle Club, Sonoran Desert Region in Scottsdale AZ, mentioned that he had acquired the car in 1999. He added the following information: body #067, VIN59P041236, trim-#1132 (black mouton sheepskin carpet), paint #110 (ebony), mileage: 63109. Available documents show the car to have been owned by two Cadillac dealers for the last 25+ years; it has been lovingly cared for. This is a very low mileage, original example. On the build sheet dated January 12, 1959 we learned that the car was delivered initially to the San Francisco zone dealer; it was registered to Hubacher Cadillac/Sacramento from 1971 to 1983, then to Betts Cadillac, Des Moines, IO, from 1984 to 1998. This Brougham currently has a fraction over 63000 miles. One particular feature of this car, that I have not seen on any other Eldorado Brougham is its so-called black tuxedo top (a vinyl top such as seen on the Eldorado Seville models of 1956 through 1960). I have no idea if this was factory installed or put on later in the car's life. (Note: 1959 Eldorado Brougham #45 also features a vicodec-like top). The car was almost totally destroyed when it blew off a trailer while being hauled by Dave Dubie to a show; as he said later, very philosophically, it could have been much worse; luckily my son and I got out of the wreck unscathed. [two down, 97 to go!].
[Feb 2000] The car was still located in Iowa and was again for sale (on the Internet) for $24,000. The vendor had this to say, inter alia: In remarkable condition with only 63,000 original miles. Since 1959 this historically important vehicle has had only three owners, two of which were Cadillac dealers/collectors. The car has black exterior and black interior, is said to be 100 percent original and in outstanding condition (including all the glass, chrome and trim). According to the factory build-sheet, this car originally had the blue cloth and blue leather interior trim, with mouton fur carpeting [trim code #1132]; now, however, it is all black leather; so obviously the interior was re-upholstered somewhere along the line.
[Aug 1998] The car was sold at auction by the Cadillac dealer in Des Moines, Iowa. This information was confirmed in March, 1999, by Ed Pentesco [cars #30 and #46]
[1984-1998] Ownership was transferred to Betts Cadillac of Des Moines, Iowa.
[1971-1983] The car was delivered initially to the San Francisco zone dealer; it was registered to Hubacher Cadillac from Sacramento CA from 1971 to 1983.
